Love These!

I am not the young buck I once was, and I oft injure myself when I try to hop back into free weight training. When I needed to do physical therapy that requires use of resistance bands. I enjoyed it, my doctor recommended I abandon free weights. And that was when I discover the Bowflex Revolution w...

Plastic plates that dont last

Very disappointed with Bowflex. When I first had an issue with my Bowflex I called and had a part replaced. All my information was in their system and the replacement was sent. After requiring a second replacement I was told that my information is not in their system and that they could not help me....

Plates are this machine's weak link

Submitted 4 years ago

By Dr. Manhatten

From Paramus, NJ

This gym is a great concept and it really does work for building strength and endurance. HOWEVER, the Spiraflex plates are horrendous. The tabs break CONSTANTLY. The seams on the plates crack. Don't accidently drop them . Or step on them. The Spiraflex plates are the weak link to an otherwise innovative and well thought out system. Replacement weights are very costly and just as susceptible to breakage.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Spiraflex Plates Flimsy

Submitted 4 years ago

By Eric

From New York

I own one for more than 6 years. Very easy to use. The Spiraflex Plates are flimsy. My three 10 lbs plate internal rubber snapped as well as the plate cover cracked. I gave 3 stars because the spiraflex plate internal rubber is weak and the covers are brittle. I have to replace the 10 lb for $37+ each and will cost me $112 for three.

I bought the Revolution around 12 years ago. I haven't run into the issues others have with the weights breaking. I will use it for 6 months on, 6 months off. I love all the different setups and variations. It keeps me from getting bored with it. It's been everything I hoped it would be.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Disappointed already

Great machine that can not take the pressure of a workout. I have after owning the Revolution for less than 2 months a weight plate break...already. the cheap plastic collar broke. A 10 lbs weight that just can not keep up with a easy routine. And of course you cant order new plates at this time. Bowflex is getting shoddy.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Bowflex Revolution letdown

Submitted 6 years ago

By Frank

From Las Vegas, NV

I have owned this machine for probably over 7 years or since they were first introduced. The machine has been a constant issue for repair and parts replacement. I have replaced both the main engines, left and right, cables, handles and numerous weight plates from the 5lbs all the way to the 40lbs plates. I try to use this machine every day but find it almost impossible because of breakage, I contacted customer service and was told things break because I use it so much. Wow what kind of machine is this? One you are not supposed to use? I have kept a great majority of the plates that have broken with problems such as the tabs that lock them together, internal bands breaking and the inside plastic ring snapping/breaking. I probably have about 15 of this plates that I have kept and have thrown away probably another 5-10. I used to believe in Bow Flex and ranted about how they backed there products when I had the previous machines but not any more since the purchase of the Revolution! It is expensive to continually replace these plates and customer service does not want to hear it. Totally disappointed!

Q

If the machine comes with 220 lbs of SpiraFlex resistance Plates and the upgrade is two 40 lb SpiraFlex resistance Plates, how do you get 600 lbs of resistance for the leg press?

Asked by Mike
Verified Reply - AnonymousHere is the description that we give our customers on how the 600 pounds of resistance comes about: After, positioning the independent pulley arms in the #9 position (should be able to see the #9 in arm window) hook up the leg press by connecting the rope that comes out the top of the seat to just the independent pulley arms. Next, make sure to use only the 5lb. pre-stretch packs that you assembled to the Revolution during step 5. Go ahead and pull back the seat using your hand and pay particular attention to how the resistance feels. You will be pulling 10lbs. Next, leaving the 5lb. pre-stretch packs on; connect the rope that is coming out of the back of the seat to the snap hook on the lower rail. Go ahead and pull back on the seat using your hand. You are now pulling 20lbs; you can feel the resistance double!!! It's like a single resistance on a rope turning into a veritable TUG-OF-WAR!!!!!Was this answer helpful to you
